Ravens tight end Mark Andrews has an outside chance of returning to the team in the postseason after surgery on his ankle, but the team is going to have to rely on other receiving targets in order to make a deep enough run for that to come into play.
That is going to be a big adjustment for quarterback Lamar Jackson. Andrews was the most targeted receiver on the team in three of the last four seasons and he is behind only Zay Flowers this season.
On Tuesday, Jackson noted that many of those targets came when plays were breaking down and losing that outlet is going to be a significant change to the Ravens offense.
“That was my No. 1 guy when I got off script. Me and him are going to have a connection somehow someway,” Jackson said, via the team’s website. “Just Mark being him, doing things to put us in great situations. We’ll miss that a lot.”
Jackson praised second-year tight ends Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar while saying he’s confident that the entire group of receivers are “stepping up” in the wake of Andrews’ loss. Sunday’s game against the Chargers will provide evidence of just how much they’re able to add to the offense.
