Previously, Nike had said nothing about the indictment of Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Now, Nike has said something.
But it’s still pretty much nothing.
“We are aware of the concerning allegations surrounding Adrian Peterson,” Nike said, via Darren Rovell of ESPN. “We will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
Everyone will be closely monitoring the situation. The question is when/if Nike will do anything about it.
The Vikings decided that, in this post-Ray Rice video reality, the team couldn’t let Peterson play on Sunday. It’s unclear what it would take for Nike to terminate or suspend its relationship with Peterson, who is accused of reckless or negligent injury to a child in connection with the whipping of his four-year-old son with a switch.
