The appeal of the five-game suspension handed down to Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor keeps on moving forward.
Albert Breer of NFL.com reports that Pryor formally asked the NFLPA to appeal the suspension handed down as punishment for the route he took to the NFL Supplemental Draft. Pryor had previously notified the league and the NFLPA of his intention to appeal after a couple of weeks of mixed messages about whether he would fight the punishment. The next step in the process would be a hearing with commissioner Roger Goodell which has yet to be scheduled.
Breer’s previous reports on the appeal have indicated that veteran players and agents who were concerned about the perception that the NFL is enforcing punishment handed down by the NCAA. Pryor was suspended five games for his involvement in the scandal at Ohio State, but he left school before serving that suspension. Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressell is going to serve a six-game suspension before starting his job as a gameday assistant for the Colts for his involvement in the same scandal, furthering the perception that the NFL is making sure the NCAA’s penalties are enforced.
