The Ravens signed a wide receiver on Tuesday when they agreed to a contract with Mike Wallace and they re-signed one to continue filling out the depth chart on Thursday.
Baltimore chose not to tender Marlon Brown as a restricted free agent before the start of the new league year, but that decision didn’t mark the end of Brown’s time with the team. The Ravens announced Thursday that they have re-signed Brown, presumably for less than the $1.671 million they would have owed him under the terms of the tender.
Brown burst on the scene as a rookie in 2013 by catching 49 passes for 524 yards and seven touchdowns, but hasn’t built on that performance in the last two seasons despite a need for receiving help in Baltimore. He has 38 catches for 367 yards without scoring a touchdown in 2014 and 2015, production that likely leaves him in a competition for a roster spot heading into next season.
The Ravens also re-signed linebacker Chris Carter, who played two games with the Ravens last year after making 13 appearances with the Bengals. Carter has also played for the Steelers and Colts since entering the league in 2011.
