Ryan Fitzpatrick hits condition on trade to send sixth to Texans
The Jets have already said they want to keep quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick around next year.
So you don’t get the sense they mind giving up a little extra for him.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets have to give a sixth-round pick to the Texans to complete the trade for their quarterback, since Fitzpatrick has played in 70 percent of the team’s snaps. The pick was originally a conditional seventh-rounder, but he has satisfied the conditions already.
Of course, the Jets have rebounded so well this year, they can’t mind giving up next year’s fifth-rounder and sixth-rounder for the wide receiver (Brandon Marshall) and the quarterback who have sparked their resurgence.
Fitzpatrick has thrown 25 touchdowns this year (11 of them to Marshall), and that has him four short of Vinny Testaverde’s franchise record set in 1998.
