NFL players often use to the offseason to further their educations, to give back to their communities, and sometimes just to relax.
But Washington outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan has a bigger goal in mind — he’s saving the country from a deadly attack.
Sort of.
Via Scott Allen of the Washington Post, Kerrigan and CSN Washington analyst Brian Mitchell recently took part in the filming of Sharknado 3. Offensive lineman Tom Compton has also filled a role in the campy/ridiculous/awesome series of monster movies, which make Godzilla films of the 1970s look like masterpieces of CGI (and plot).
Kerrigan and Mitchell play NASA technicians, who work under the leadership of former congressman Anthony Weiner (and if you saw the first two Sharknadoes, you can practically see where that’s going).
“When I got asked to be a part of it, I was all in right from the start,” Kerrigan said. “It’s kind of hard to prepare for this because I didn’t know what to expect or who I was going to be,” . “I had my lines down, so I just had to learn to put the drama and the force behind it.”
They shot their scenes at the local Comcast SportsNet Studio, which like the SyFy Network and PFT is part of NBC Universal.
(Cough, put me in Sharknado 4, shamless plug, cough).
