Seahawks waive Christine Michael

Rotoworld's Raymond Summerlin takes a look at three players you should target on the waiver wire, if they're still available in Bears WR Cameron Meredith, Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise and Redskins RB Robert Kelley.

In a surprise move, the Seahawks have put their leading rusher on the waiver wire.

Christine Michael, who leads the Seahawks with 117 carries for 469 yards and six touchdowns, was placed on waivers today. That means he’s now available to any team that wants to claim him, at a very affordable price of about $280,000 for the balance of the season.

It’s unclear whether anything happened to make the Seahawks’ brass unhappy with Michael, or if they just figure that they’ll be better off going with C.J. Prosise and Thomas Rawls the rest of the season.

Michael was the Seahawks’ second-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft. They traded him to Dallas in 2015, and he also briefly played in Washington before returning to Seattle last year. Now he’ll wait until tomorrow afternoon to see if anyone claims him, and find out what’s next for his NFL career.
