Tim Tebow gets a big ovation in Eagles preseason debut

If nothing else, the Eagles figured out a way to keep fans interested in the second half of a preseason game.

Tim Tebow made his Philadelphia debut Sunday, and had to quiet down the crowd which gave him a loud ovation before he took a snap.

The Eagles were already up 26-10 when he entered the game, and he actually moved them well, completing 4-of-5 passes for 43 yards and scrambling a bit. The drive ended in a missed field goal, but it contained enough to be intriguing.

Of course, he didn’t come in until they had already cycled through Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley, so perhaps it’s not time to get too excited.

Oh, who are we kidding? TEBOW!!!

Whether the Eagles intend to do anything with him or not, he’s worth keeping around, just because coach Chip Kelly has a reputation as a tinkerer. That will cause opponents to spend time thinking about what he might do with Tebow, and that might be worth the cost of a third quarterback who may or may not even be active on Sundays.
