Thursday night was short on good news for the Redskins, who got routed by the Giants at home in another short week thriller.
Friday brought something a little happier, though. Left tackle Trent Williams, who left the 45-14 loss with a right knee injury, did not wind up needing an MRI on Friday.
Coach Jay Gruden said, via the Washington Post, that there was no instability in Williams’s knee and that early fears of a dislocated kneecap were quelled. He is sore, but the team is calling him day-to-day as they prepare for the long wait until their next game against the Seahawks on Monday Night in Week Five.
“It’s a relief,” Gruden said.
Tight end Niles Paul is in the league’s concussion protocol after getting sandwiched between a pair of Giants while making a catch on Thursday night. The extra time before the next game works to his advantage, but it is far too early to have any read on his chances of playing.
