    Seahawks waived RB Cam Akers.
Akers rushed five times for five yards and caught 0-of-1 targets in his time with the Seahawks. Griffin recorded zero pass breakups and zero interceptions on 56 coverage snaps. Both players could find spots on practice squads.
  • SEA Cornerback #24
    Seahawks released CB Shaquill Griffin.
Griffin was immediately signed to the Seahawks’ practice squad. The team signed wide receiver Cody White from their practice squad to the active roster in a corresponding move. They made the opposite pair of moves last week. This is what peak roster management looks like.
  • SEA Cornerback #21
Seahawks CB Devon Witherspoon (knee) did not practice on Thursday.
Seahawks S Julian Love (groin) was also downgraded to a non-participant after practicing in a limited capacity on Wednesday. Fellow Seahawks S Nick Emmanwori (ankle) was recently placed on injured reserve. With the secondary in such rough shape, the Seahawks signed CB Shaquill Griffin from the practice squad. The team correspondingly released WR Cody White before immediately signing him to the practice squad.
  • SEA Cornerback #1
Seahawks signed CB Shaquill Griffin, formerly of the Vikings.
It’s a homecoming for Griffin, who played four years in Seattle after being drafted in the third round in 2017. Griffin has since bounced around the league with stops in Jacksonville, Houston, Carolina, and most recently Minnesota. He appeared in all 17 games for the Vikings in 2023 and totaled six pass breakups with two interceptions. Griffin was a top flight corner in his first Seattle stint and earned a Pro Bowl nod for his efforts in 2019. While he’s more of a rotational corner at this point in his career, his return is a good fit for all parties.
  • FA Cornerback #1
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports free agent CB Shaquill Griffin is visiting the Raiders on Wednesday.
Griffin played for the Vikings last season, intercepting two passes in 17 games played. The 29-year-old previously played for the Panthers, Texans and Jaguars, while making a Pro Bowl with the Seahawks. The Raiders are in need of depth in the secondary after losing Nate Hobbs in the offseason. Griffin has the flexibility to start if needed for Las Vegas, should the team sign him.

FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz reports free agent CB Shaq Griffin will meet with the Seahawks.
Griffin was a third-round pick by the Seahawks back in 2017 and played the first four years of his career in Seattle. The veteran corner has since bounced around to the Jaguars, Texans and Panthers before landing in Minnesota on a one-year contract last season. Griffin started three of the 17 games he appeared in for the Vikings in 2024, totaling 41 tackles, two interceptions and six pass breakups while earning a PFF coverage grade of 62.4. The 435 pass coverage snaps he played were his most since 2021. Griffin hasn’t started more than seven games since 2022 and would likely be used in a depth role wherever he signs for next season.
  • MIN Cornerback #20
Vikings agreed to terms with CB Shaquill Griffin, formerly of the Panthers.
After starting 2023 with the Texans, Griffin was waived and claimed by the Panthers to finish out the season. He totaled five passes defended and an interception between the two teams. Prior to that, Griffin spent four seasons with the Seahawks, including one Pro Bowl year, and two with the Jaguars. The 28-year-old now joins a Vikings secondary headed by Byron Murphy and company.
  • CAR Cornerback #0
Panthers claimed CB Shaquill Griffin off waivers from the Texans.
Griffin goes from a team in the midst of a playoff hunt to a team that’s just trying to finish out the season. The veteran corner joins a struggling Panthers secondary that should provide him some snaps as he looks to show he still has something left to offer a contender next season. Griffin, 28, signed a one-year contract with the Texans earlier this offseason but was let go by the team earlier this week. Currently graded as the 78th-best coverage corner per PFF, Griffin probably won’t do much to improve the Panthers’ defense over the final six weeks of the season.
  • Cornerback #0
    Texans waived CB Shaquill Griffin.
The Texans signed Griffin to a one year, $4.5 million contract this offseason and penciled him in to start opposite Derek Stingley Jr. Now, 12 games into the season, the Texans have decided to part ways with the 28-year-old. On the season, Griffin has 29 tackles, one interception, and 27 receptions allowed. Pro Football Focus graded him as the 78th-best corner in terms of coverage grade. The team signed Desmond King II to take Griffin’s place on the roster.
  • SEA Cornerback #24
Texans signed CB Shaquill Griffin to a one-year, $4.5 million contract.
Griffin played the previous two seasons in Jacksonville but was a cap casualty this offseason, a move that saved the team over $13 million against the cap. The veteran corner lasted all of five days on the open market before joining the Texans on the one-year deal. Griffin will likely work in opposite Derek Stingley, Jr in what amounts to a prove-your-health deal after missing a total of 13 games for the Jaguars with a back injury in 2022.
