Edwards is a very capable and versitile OL. He should compete for a starting spot and at worst he’ll be the 1st one off the bench.

Edwards, who had a torn meniscus, wouldn’t have made the club anyways.

Edwards has played with the Bears and Vikings the last two years.

Released by Chicago Friday, Edwards is likely to be signed by Minnesota and will back up as many as four spots on the offensive line.

Minnesota loves handing out these meaningless two-year deals, giving them to guys like Mike McMahon and Edwards before their releases. They needed to open a roster spot for LB Marquis Cooper, who signed Tuesday but will probably be gone by the weekend.

The versatile former Bear will be a backup in Minnesota.

This could be a sign New York is concerned with Kareem McKenzie’s health. McKenzie left last Sunday’s game with a sprained neck.
