Wayne Chrebet has been ruled out of the preseason finale with a quad injury.
A quad contusion has caused blood to drain into Chrebet’s knee. If he’s not going to ready for Week 1, Jerricho Cotchery is expected to act as the Jets’ No. 3 receiver.

Wayne Chrebet was downgraded to questionable with a back injury.
Like most receivers added to the injury report mid-week, we wouldn’t expect Chrebet to play. He could barely turn around to talk to reporters earlier in the week. He didn’t practice Thursday or Friday.

If Wayne Chrebet (back) can’t go against the Bills tomorrow, rookie Jerricho Cotchery will see time at the slot.
Santana Moss, his owners know, has been awful, but things might fall his way this week. Chrebet is likely out, as are Bills’ DBs Troy Vincent and Coy Wire. The Bills want to stuff Curtis Martin and force Chad Pennington to beat them deep. It all adds up to giving Moss another chance.

Coach Herm Edwards sounded certain Wayne Chrebet will play this week.
The Jets said they were cautious playing Chrebet after a short week and feared losing two receivers because Santana Moss’ hamstring is injured. Chrebet still isn’t a great playoff league pickup.

Chrebet sufferered from concussion problems most of last season. He will likely take a paycut to return to the Jets.

The Jets included a “concussion clause” in wide receiver Wayne Chrebet’s contract.
The clause would save the Jets from paying his entire $1.5 million salary if he’s placed on injured reserve with a concussion. Chrebet is expected to play next season.
