Giants requested an interview with Ravens assistant head coach Willie Taggart for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
Taggart also holds the title of running backs coach. He joined the Ravens in 2023 after a lengthy career coaching college football. After a quiet first year on the job, Taggart got to work with Derrick Henry for his next two seasons in Baltimore. Henry exploded with the Ravens, running for 3,516 yards over the past two years. As expected, John Harbaugh plans on bringing as many of his former staffers to New York as possible. Both Taggart and Ravens OC Todd Monken are reportedly in consideration for the OC vacancy in New York.

Ravens hired Willie Taggart as RBs coach.
Taggart joins the NFL for the first time after serving as a college coach for the last decade. This is a high-profile hire for the Ravens, whose run game took a step back in 2022. Taggart peaked in the 2010s, becoming one of the highest paid coaches during stints at Oregon and Florida State. Taggert’s run schemes have always produced and his backs have had NFL careers — Marlon Mack, Royce Freeman, and Cam Akers were developed under Taggart. The Taggart hire and expected release of Gus Edwards sets up third-year RB J.K. Dobbins for a breakout 2023.
