Strief’s knee was bloody, and the injury caused him a ton of pain. Two trainers helped carry Strief to the sideline. He was replaced by second-year OT Charles Brown. Strief beat out Jon Stinchcomb for a starting job in camp.

Strief’s healthy return from a right MCL sprain comes in a timely manner for New Orleans, which lost Charles Brown to a season-ending hip injury in Week 8. Strief has made 10 career starts. Signed to a new three-year contract in the offseason, he has been tabbed as Jon Stinchcomb’s long-term successor.

Strief is expected to sit out one more week, but he’s back on track to return before the Week 11 bye. Charles Brown, last year’s second-rounder, has held up well enough that the Saints may consider keeping him in as the starter.

Strief was upgraded to “limited” in Friday’s practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions, but didn’t suffer any setbacks in his return to the lineup last week. With Charles Brown (knee) ruled out, William Robinson will be forced to back-up at both tackle spots.
