Kings’ Clifford out 4-6 weeks after wrist surgery
Gritty L.A. forward Kyle Clifford underwent surgery two weeks ago to correct a wrist fracture, per LA Kings Insider.
Clifford, 23, is coming off a successful playoff run in which he scored seven points in 24 games en route to the Kings’ second Stanley Cup in three years. While his regular season production hasn’t been stellar -- he’s never scored more than 14 points in a single campaign -- Clifford is regarded as a valuable bottom-six forward and was rewarded with a two-year, $2.15 million deal last summer.
The procedure to fix his wrist -- which, coincidentally, happened on the same day Jonathan Quick underwent wrist surgery of his own -- was only supposed to sideline Clifford for 4-6 weeks, meaning he should be at full health when the Kings open camp this fall.
