Video: Raanta shuts out flat Flyers in emergency start
Antti Raanta made an emergency start for the Chicago Blackhawks, getting into his first NHL game action since April 12. That’s a while ago. Didn’t seem to bother him, however.
The Flyers, a team with numerous concerns so early in the season, continue to struggle. They have just one win in six games.
This was over early.
The Blackhawks scored twice in 32 seconds and three times in less than three minutes late in the first period, taking the lead and taking control.
They didn’t relent. Shots after the opening 20 minutes were 19-9 for Chicago. It didn’t better for Philadelphia.
When it was all over, the 25-year-old Raanta picked up the second shutout of his NHL career. Why not do a little dance?
“After games when you play that good that you can get a star ... you can maybe move like a Finnish dance artist,” he told Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.
Meanwhile, the news around Crawford, the club’s No. 1 goalie, didn’t seem overly promising after the win. According to ESPN Chicago, it appears Crawford may not travel with the team on its two-game road trip, which begins Thursday against the Nashville Predators.
