Olympic all-around bronze medalist Danell Leyva said he is unlikely to compete in the all-around at the World Gymnastics Championships because he does not expect to perform on still rings, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Leyva did not compete on rings in podium training Tuesday, and he is listed as an alternate on the apparatus on the qualification start list for Saturday.
Leyva, 22, finished seventh in the all-around at the 2013 P&G Championships, made the World Championships team and withdrew with a shoulder injury. He finished fifth in the all-around at this year’s P&G Championships.
Leyva is the only man at Worlds other than Japan’s four-time reigning World champion Kohei Uchimura who has won an Olympic all-around medal.
