Greece’s Petrounias shines on rings; Zanetti claims silver for Brazil

Eleftherios Petrounias went first, and left everyone grasping for second.

The Greek gymnast posted a clean-16 on the rings, easing to gold at the Olympics in Rio on Monday.

Arthur Zanetti brought the place to its feet when, going last, he put up a strong 15.766 for silver. Russia’s Denis Abliazin took bronze with a 15.7.

Petrounias is the reigning European and World champion on the still rings, and was the first torch bearer for these Games.
