Either Aly Raisman or Simone Biles could become the fourth-straight American Olympian to take gold in the women’s all-around gymnastics final when the high-profile event takes center stage on Thursday.
Team USA will hope both repeat the 2008 heroics of Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson, who finished 1-2 in an American first.

Gabby Douglas won Gold in London, Liukin in Beijing, and Carly Patterson in Athens. Mary Lou Retton snared gold in 1984, while Shannon Miller is the other U.S. gymnast to medal. She took silver in 1992.
Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade qualified third, while a pair of Russians -- Seda Tutkhalyan and Aliya Mustafina are fourth and fifth. Wang Yan of China is sixth of the 24 competitors.
