More than 200 athletes will be named to the U.S. Olympic team this fall and early winter in a variety of ways.
There are the simple Olympic Trials systems -- such as in short- and long-track speed skating. Or the committee discretionary selection -- such as in figure skating following the U.S. Championships.
In many sports, World Cup results in November, December and early January will determine the makeup of the U.S. teams in PyeongChang. Such as in Alpine skiing, bobsled, luge and skeleton.
Two athletes qualified for the U.S. Olympic team last season -- biathletes Lowell Bailey and Susan Dunklee. Starting with an Olympic Curling Trials in November, the U.S. team will start to fill up.
