Tony Losey, an Olympic boxing hopeful, died when a six-ton tank fell on him in an industrial accident in Wichita, Kan., on Tuesday.

Losey, 22, was a subcontractor at the site, according to reports.

Losey was No. 3 in USA Boxing’s welterweight (152-pound) rankings. He made the final of the 2013 U.S. Championships, losing a bout with the winner making the 2013 World Championships team.

“[The Olympics] was his goal,” Lewis Hernandez, who trained Losey for eight years, told the Wichita Eagle. “He went through a lot of tough times as a kid, but he was pushing forward real well.”
