Neshek

Neshek was limited to 18 innings of relief in 2019 due to shoulder and hamstring injuries. The 39-year-old right-hander will probably have to settle for a one-year deal on the open market this winter.

Neshek was considering another round of platelet-rich plasma treatment for his hamstring, but he ultimately opted for surgery. The 39-year-old ended up appearing in just 20 games with the Phillies this season. The club holds a $750,000 buyout on his $7 million club option for 2020.

Either option would end his season. Neshek has been on the shelf since June 20 with a severe hamstring strain, and it’s not getting any better on its own. He already had one round of PRP treatment in mid-July.

Neshek landed on the 10-day injured list on June 20 with a left hamstring strain and was then transferred to the 60-day IL on Friday. He’s getting platelet-rich plasma treatment and is going to be shut down for a while.

Neshek’s left hamstring strain is obviously pretty severe. The veteran setup man suffered the injury in late June and is now certain to be sidelined through at least August 19.

Neshek suffered the hamstring strain on Wednesday night, in his first appearance since returning from a three-week shoulder injury. The veteran setup man will probably miss at least two more weeks of action.

When it rains it pours for the Philadelphia bullpen. Neshek was just activated off the 10-day injured list with a shoulder issue, and now he’s likely headed back because of this hamstring strain. Neshek has been plagued by various injuries over the last three years. There’s no word yet as to who will replace the right-hander on the 25-man roster.

Neshek missed three weeks of action with a shoulder issue. He’ll probably be used in low leverage situations initially given his struggles before going on the IL.
