Kerley and Richardson Will Both Represent the U.S. in the 100m at the World Championships in August
Ryan Crouser, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Shericka Jackson, Mondo Duplantis and Other Olympians Expected to Compete This Weekend in Silesia, Poland
STAMFORD, Conn. – July 12, 2023 – Reigning 100m world champion Fred Kerley and 2023 U.S. 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson headline NBC Sports’ live coverage of the Diamond League in Silesia, Poland, this Sunday, July 16, at 10 a.m. ET on Peacock and CNBC from Silesian Stadium.
Kerley, who placed fourth in the 200m at the USATF Outdoor Championships in a season best time of 19.86 last weekend, is expected to compete in the 100m on Sunday. Later this summer, Kerley will look to become the first man since eight-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt (Jamaica) to win back-to-back 100m world titles (2013, 2015). In Sunday’s 100m, Kerley is expected to face 2019 100m world champion Christian Coleman and 2022 100m world silver medalist Marvin Bracy-Williams.
Richardson, who won the 100m at the USATF Outdoor Championships to secure her first trip to the World Championships, is expected to contest the 100m as well this weekend, where she will face five-time Olympic medalist Shericka Jackson (Jamaica). Jackson, as eight-time world medalist, ran a world-leading time of 10.65 at the Jamaican National Championships last weekend, ranking fifth all-time.
Additionally, reigning Olympic and world champion shot putter Ryan Crouser, reigning 110m hurdles world champion Grant Holloway, Tokyo Olympic 100m hurdles silver medalist Keni Harrison, and two-time Olympic 110m hurdler Devon Allen are expected to represent the U.S. in Poland.
On the international side, Tokyo Olympic 1500m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway), reigning Olympic and world pole vault champion Mondo Duplantis (Sweden), reigning 100m hurdles world champion Tobi Amusan (Nigeria), Tokyo Olympic 100m hurdles champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (Puerto Rico), and reigning Olympic and world triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas (Venezuela) are all expected to showcase their talents this weekend.
NBC Sports’ Paul Swangard will call the event, joined by four-time Olympic medalist Ato Boldon and 2012 London Olympic decathlon silver medalist Trey Hardee.
NBC Sports will present more than 60 hours of exclusive coverage of the Diamond League this season across NBC, Peacock, and CNBC, including 30+ hours of live coverage streaming on Peacock. Peacock is home to live coverage of all 14 meets this season, with encore presentations of most on CNBC. NBC Sports will also present the 2023 World Athletics Championships from Budapest, Hungary, on August 19-27.
From September 16-17, NBC will present four hours of live coverage of the Prefontaine Classic, which will double as the Diamond League Final, from Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore. – home of the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships. This will be the first time in history that the Diamond League Final will be held on U.S. soil.
