The Podium Daily Begins Episodes July 23 with the Opening Ceremony

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 4, 2021 – NBC Olympics has launched The Podium, a weekly podcast series taking listeners inside this summer’s Tokyo Olympics. The first episode of The Podium is available now and is produced by NBC Sports Audio in collaboration with Boombox Group.

The Podium, hosted by Lauren Shehadi, explores stories that have come to define past Olympic Games and will ultimately shape the Summer Games in Tokyo. Throughout the 12-episode series, with new episodes dropping each Tuesday in the leadup to the Tokyo Olympics this summer, Shehadi speaks with athletes and experts who have first-hand Olympic experience.

Beginning July 23 with the Opening Ceremony, the series shifts to daily episodes with The Podium Daily, dropping a new episode each day throughout the 17-day Olympic Games until the Closing Ceremony on Aug. 8.

Ranging from athlete’s experiences at the Games to how the Olympics have been transformed by technology to Opening and Closing Ceremony traditions, The Podium provides listeners with behind-the-scenes stories and insights for every facet of the Olympics.

Today’s debut episode, “The Power of the Torch,” launches the series by discussing the significance of the Olympic torch.
