Inaugural Event to Feature More Than 100 of World’s Best Action Sports Athletes
Action Sports Icons Tony Hawk, Travis Pastrana and Todd Richards Host Coverage on NBC
An All-New Nitro Circus: Road to the World Games Premieres Tomorrow Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN
STAMFORD, Conn. – July 14, 2016 – NBC Sports will present the first-ever Nitro World Games, an unparalleled action sports competition featuring the world’s best athletes in the sports of FMX, BMX, skateboarding, inline skating, and scooter, this Saturday, July 16, in primetime at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
Among the more than 100 athletes scheduled to compete are 2016 X Games FMX medalists Josh Sheehan, Clinton Moore and Rob Adelberg, BMX riders Pat Casey, James Foster and Colton Satterfield, and skateboarders Elliot Sloan, Jake Brown and Mitchie Brusco. All Nitro World Games finalists will be determined following final qualifiers, on Friday, July 15.
Inline competitors include Roman Abrate, Chris Haffey, and Dave Lang. The scooter competition field includes Ryan Williams, Corey Funk and Capron Funk. All inline and scooter contenders will compete in the July 16 Nitro World Games, as there are no qualifying events for these disciplines.
World Snowboarding Champion and U.S. Olympian Todd Richards will anchor coverage from Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. Richards will be joined by skate legend Tony Hawk and FMX star Travis Pastrana.
An all-new Nitro Circus: Road to the World Games, hosted by Richards, Hawk and Pastrana, premieres tomorrow, Friday, July 15 at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The one-hour special will provide a preview of the World Games, and an exclusive look at the all new course and ramp system.
