Dolphins signed WR Rashawn Scott off their practice squad.
It is notable with DeVante Parker (back) sitting out Wednesday’s practice. An undrafted rookie out of Miami, Scott does not wow with his size or athleticism, but he is a solid, smart receiver. That said, he is unlikely to contribute even if Parker sits.

Second-year Dolphins WR Leonte Carroo is “battling” with 2016 UDFA Rashawn Scott for a reserve receiver spot.
The Miami Herald reported last month that Carroo’s 53-man roster spot is not assured, and this would seem to confirm that. Speaking Monday, Dolphins ST coordinator Darren Rizzi did say Carroo has improved, taking the offseason more seriously and reporting in excellent shape. Carroo will be on notice from Day 1 in camp.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Dolphins WR Rashawn Scott is sidelined indefinitely with a foot injury.
Like most Dolphins, Scott was the subject of numerous offseason puff pieces. He’s competing for the Dolphins’ No. 6 receiver job, but that’s obviously in jeopardy now. A 2016 UDFA, Scott appeared in two games last season.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
Dolphins activated WR Rashawn Scott (foot) from the reserve/PUP list.
The 2016 UDFA was active for two games as a rookie. Scott was supposedly having an impressive offseason before injuring his foot in the early days of camp. Coach Adam Gase is clamoring for radical changes on offense, but it’s hard to see Scott playing more than a handful of snaps any given week.

Dolphins signed Miami (FL) WR Rashawn Scott.
Scott (6'1/199) started just one season at The U, collecting 52 catches for 695 yards (13.2 YPR) and five touchdowns as a redshirt senior. He ran 4.54 at the Hurricanes’ Pro Day with a 32 1/2-inch vertical and 9-foot-8 broad jump in Indy. Although Scott’s college career was uninspiring, he’s a favorite of Rookie Scouting Portfolio’s Matt Waldman for his ability to win against coverage and intelligent route running. Waldman has suggested Scott could follow an Allen Hurns-type path as another prospect from whom little was expected.

    Dolphins waived WR Rashawn Scott.
He was let go to make room for AJ Derby, who was claimed off waivers from Denver. Scott has played just one offensive snap in 2017.
