    Raiders waived OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong.
Armstrong had played 211 snaps on defense this season, but fallen out of favor in recent weeks. Armstrong has some play-making ability, but is too mistake prone to be a difference maker.
  • Raiders OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong is under investigation for taunting a police dog at Heinz Field last Sunday.
Apparently this is a crime, and a felony (!) at that. Armstrong is alleged to have “lifted his shirt, pounded on his chest and (barked)” at the dog as he made his way to the field. It’s hard to make this stuff up. Hopefully the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Department decides it has better things to do. What a country.
  • Raiders claimed LB Ray-Ray Armstrong off waivers from the Rams.
A 2013 undrafted free agent, Armstrong had appeared in every game for the Rams since the start of last season. The Miami product will serve as a deep reserve and special teamer for a Raiders team that sent Kaluka Maiava to injured reserve on Tuesday.
  • Browns re-signed LB Ray-Ray Armstrong to a one-year contract.
Armstrong opened last season with the Giants but was cut and finished it with the Browns, playing 212 snaps across both teams. Armstrong just turned 28 this month and will compete for a depth and special teams job.

49ers DC Jim O’Neil said there will be a three-way competition at linebacker.
Gerald Hodges got the first-team reps on Wednesday, but O’Neil said Hodges, Ray-Ray Armstrong and Michael Wilhoite will see equal time with the first-team throughout OTAs. Wilhoite started the first 12 games last year, but a late-season ankle injury opened the door for Hodges, who was acquired via trade in October. Armstrong will get his shot, but the competition will likely come down to Hodges and Wilhoite.
  • 49ers placed ILB Ray-Ray Armstrong on injured reserve with a pectoral injury, ending his season.
Armstrong surprisingly had a role this season, playing 69 snaps at inside linebacker through the first two games. Armstrong is still only 25, but will be nearing journeyman status next offseason.
  • 49ers signed LB Ray-Ray Armstrong to a two-year extension through 2018.
He was scheduled to be a free agent in March. Armstrong was a part-time inside linebacker and special teams player the first two weeks of the season before suffering a season-ending torn pectoral. He should fill the same role next year. Armstrong is just 25 and a high-energy player.
  • 49ers re-signed OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong.
Armstrong will try to crack the 49ers’ 53-man roster as a reserve linebacker and core special teamer.
  • 49ers claimed OLB Ray-Ray Armstrong off waivers from the Raiders.
He takes the spot of Glenn Dorsey (ACL surgery). Armstrong opened the season in a sub-package role with Oakland, but played limited snaps before getting cut. He’ll give the 49ers situational depth.
  • 49ers waived LB Ray-Ray Armstrong.
Armstrong started five of the 49ers’ first six games, but faded into a rotational role the last few weeks. He should draw waiver interest as a versatile journeyman playing at the veteran minimun. Armstrong is under contract through 2018.
