The Chargers canceled Thursday’s practice after guard Ryan Groy tested positive for COVID-19.
Groy, who has played in four games at right guard this season for LA, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. In a Thursday statement, the Chargers said “close contacts [with Groy] have been identified. They will remain home today and participate in meetings remotely.” “As of right now, we feel like we have it contained,” Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said Thursday, adding it was his call to send players home. Any more positive COVID tests in the organization could put their Week 8 game against Denver in jeopardy.

Chargers OL Ryan Groy tested positive for COVID-19 and has begun quarantining.
Groy has played in four games at right guard this season for LA, logging 271 snaps mostly in pass blocking situations. In a Thursday statement, the Chargers said “close contacts [with Groy] have been identified. They will remain home today and participate in meetings remotely.” Those with Chargers on their fantasy rosters should track the team’s roster moves in the next couple days. The team facility remains open.

Chargers released/waived LB Asmar Bilal, RB Darius Bradwell, CB John Brannon, LB Cole Christiansen, WR Jeff Cotton, G Josh Dunlop, NT Breiden Fehoko, LB Romeo Finley, DE Joe Gaziano, G Nate Gilliam, RB Derrick Gore, G Ryan Groy, FB Bobby Holly, LB Malik Jefferson, WR Darius Jennings, WR Tyron Johnson, DE Jessie Lemonier, CB Kevin McGill, DB Quenton Meeks, FB Gabe Nabers, OT Ryan Roberts, WR Dalton Schoen, OT Trent Scott, DT TJ Smith, OL Cole Toner, and CB Donte Vaughn.
Groy made nine appearances with the Chargers in ’19, playing 36 snaps on offense and another 37 on special teams. Derwin James was Los Angeles’ only player to revert to injured reserve from the 53-man roster.

Saints signed OL Ryan Groy, formerly of the Bills.
The Saints signed Groy and Marshall Newhouse after working them out at minicamp. Groy started six games last year but graded as one of the worst centers in the league. He had some success late in 2016, but hasn’t come close to that since. Groy is just an end-of-roster flyer.

Bills tendered C Ryan Groy at the original-round level.
The tender will be worth $1.797 million if he signs it. Since he was an undrafted free agent in 2014, the Bills will receive no compensation if he ends up elsewhere. Groy started seven games at center last season. He should be back in Buffalo as versatile interior depth.

Bills signed G/C Ryan Groy to a two-year, $5 million contract.
Groy was a restricted free agent. The Bills matched an offer sheet from the Rams. Los Angeles was interested in Groy as its starting center. ESPN’s Mike Rodak expects Groy to return as the Bills’ “top interior backup lineman.” There’s been speculation Groy could replace 33-year-old LG Richie Incognito in 2018. Groy is excellent insurance on 31-year-old C Eric Wood, who broke his leg last season.

Bills restricted free agent G/C Ryan Groy has officially signed his two-year, $5 million offer sheet with the Rams.
The Bills now have five days to match. If they decline, they will receive no draft pick compensation, as Groy is a former undrafted free agent tendered at the original-round level. Groy would presumably replace the recently-released Tim Barnes as the Rams’ starting center.

Rams signed restricted free agent C Ryan Groy to a two-year offer sheet.
Groy is expected to sign the sheet on Tuesday, and the Bills will then have five days to match it or let him walk. A 2014 UDFA out of Wisconsin, Groy has played all five positions on the offensive line since entering the pros. He made seven starts at center for Buffalo last season, receiving plus marks from Pro Football Focus for both his run and pass blocking. After the Rams released C Tim Barnes last week, Groy would likely take over there in L.A. His offensive line coach in Buffalo, Aaron Kromer, was hired by the Rams earlier this offseason.

Patriots acquired OG Ryan Groy from the Bears in exchange for LB Matthew Wells.
Wells was a sixth-round pick in May. A 2014 undrafted free agent, Groy appeared in four games as a rookie, making three starts. He held his own in 237 snaps. He provides depth for the Pats’ shaky guard situation.

Bills C Ryan Groy is rotating first-team snaps with Russell Bodine.
The Bills signed Bodine to be their starter in March, so it is a big concern the job is still up for grabs at this point in training camp. That said, Bodine was a below-average starter with the Bengals, so it is not that big of a surprise Groy is pushing him for the job. Groy held his own in seven starts at center late in the 2016 season.
