Undrafted free agent Sam Hurd has been running with Dallas’ first team offense in training camp.
Terrell Owens has reportedly taken the Northern Illinoise product under his wing and Hurd has been the story of camp, making plays on a daily basis. He looks like a good bet to make the team.

The undrafted rookie’s roster spot appears to be on lock.

Cowboys declared WR Miles Austin, WR Sam Hurd, CB Nathan Jones, G Cory ProcterT Pat McQuistan, K Mike Vanderjagt, and LB Bobby Carpenter inactive for Week 1.

Sam Hurd had four receptions for 50 yards in the Bears’ Week 5 loss to the Lions.
We’re currently reviewing the snap count, but Hurd appeared to leapfrog both Roy Williams and Johnny Knox. Whatever the case may be, it’s a wise bet to avoid all Bears pass-catchers until a clear leader emerges.

Ex-Bears WR Sam Hurd’s federal drug-trafficking case has been delayed until August.
Hurd’s trial had been set to begin April 2. Faced with conspiracy and drug possession charges, Hurd has insisted he’s not guilty, and plans to advance “several different theories” to prove his innocence. It’s a fact, not a theory, that Hurd’s NFL career is over.

Bears WR Sam Hurd was arrested Wednesday night in Chicago on federal drug charges.
According to authorities, Hurd attempted to purchase drugs from a supplier in North Texas. Court documents say he tried to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of mixture or substance containing cocaine. Hurd spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys and is from San Antonio. In 12 games this season, he has eight catches for 109 yards.

According to a report from 670 The Score in Chicago, Bears WR Sam Hurd supplied drugs to NFL players numbering in the “double digits.”
Football was apparently a side job for Hurd, who was one of the top drug dealers in Chicago. His operation makes Nate Newton’s 213 pounds of marijuana look small-time. Doing roughly $2 million worth of business every month, Hurd was looking to buy “5 to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week for distribution in the Chicago area.” Hurd faces up to 40 years in prison, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. His football career is over.

Ex-Bears WR Sam Hurd was indicted Wednesday on federal drug possession and conspiracy charges stemming from an alleged “drug-dealing network.”
Hurd is free on $100,000 bond, but he won’t be for long. He faces up to ten years to life in prison if convicted of the conspiracy charge, and up to 40 years of possession. Hurd was arrested on December 14 in Chicago after allegedly attempting to buy a kilo of cocaine from an undercover cop. After walking out of a Chicago steakhouse with the kilo, Hurd was arrested. There’s no chance we’ll see the 26-year-old special teamer back in the NFL.

Through his attorney, former Bears WR Sam Hurd has denied selling drugs to other NFL players.
“It is patently and totally false,” were the words of Hurd’s attorney Brent Greenfield Friday. “It just didn’t happen.” Through a spokesman, the NFL has said it is “not aware” of Hurd being accused of supplying drugs to other players. On Thursday, Chicago’s 670 The Score reported Hurd was selling drugs to fellow players numbering in the “double digits.”
