LB Shaquem Griffin announced his retirement from the NFL.
Griffin played in 50 NFL games including four playoff games, logging 27 tackles, and three sacks over three seasons with the Seahawks. After the Seahawks let him walk in free agency, he briefly signed with the Dolphins, but did not make the final roster; he spent the 2021 season as a free agent. Griffin’s journey to the NFL is an inspirational one. Griffin was born with a condition that caused his fingers not to fully develop, leading to his arm being amputated as a child. He preserved to become a standout player at UCF and a fifth-round NFL draft pick.

    Dolphins waived LB Shaquem Griffin.
The Dolphins signed Griffin as a depth piece in July, but he evidently didn’t do enough to crack the 53-man roster. Griffin mostly operated as a special-teamer during his time in Seattle. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero added that Griffin, who is supposedly trying to transition to linebacker full-time, will likely end up on Miami’s practice squad.

9News’ Mike Klis reports free agent LB Shaquem Griffin will try out for the Broncos.
Griffin, 26, is expected to transition to a full-time pass rusher at his next landing spot, but could be limited to special teams duty on a team like Denver, stacked with premiere pass rushers. Griffin will likely be a rotational player with whoever he signs with this summer.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports several teams are interested in free agent LB Shaquem Griffin, who could transition to a full-time pass rusher.
Griffin functioned as a special teamer during his three-year run in Seattle. Entering his age-26 season, Griffin could be a full-time pass rusher with whichever team signs him for 2021, per Pelissero. He’s most likely to remain a solid special teams player though.

The Seahawks did not extend a tender to restricted free agent LB Shaquem Griffin, making him a free agent.
A core special teamer the past three seasons, injuries forced Griffin into a bigger role on defense down the stretch in 2020. Griffin is four months shy of his 26th birthday. He figures to be treated as a core special teamer on the open market.

Seahawks signed LB Shaquem Griffin to their practice squad.
Seattle brought back Griffin after waiving him on Saturday. He played nearly half of the team’s special teams snaps last year, and could wind up on the team’s game day roster if Seattle’s defense or special teams unit struggles with injuries or COVID-19 infections this season.

    Seahawks waived LB Shaquem Griffin.
The writing was on the wall after Seattle added Jordyn Brooks and 2019 third-round pick Cody Barton the last two years. Griffin played 47 percent of the Seahawks’ special teams snaps in 2019. He’s a candidate for the expanded practice squad.

Seahawks LB Shaquem Griffin “looms” as a player on the roster bubble heading into training camp, according to the Seattle Times’ Bob Condotta.
The third-year linebacker is the twin brother of starting outside corner Shaquill Griffin, but Shaquem has not claimed a starting role after two seasons in the NFL. Over the last two drafts, the Seahawks have spent three picks on his position, including 2020 first-round pick Jordyn Brooks and 2019 third-round pick Cody Barton. Griffin might need to carve out a pass rushing role in order to make the 53-man roster. Condotta notes increased practice squad numbers, ranging anywhere from 12 to 16 players, likely means Griffin remains a part of the Seahawks in some fashion.

Coach Pete Carroll said LB Shaquem Griffin will rush the passer more often in 2019.
Griffin will remain a weakside linebacker, but Carroll wants to send Griffin on more blitzes to utilize his speed. Carroll also said that they will even experiment with him on the edge, where he was primarily lined up at in college, but at only 228 pounds, Griffin is likely too small to beat NFL tackles at the line of scrimmage.
