Chiefs signed Michigan QB Shea Patterson.
The No. 1 quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class, Patterson (6'1/212) played two seasons at Ole Miss (tearing his PCL in 2017) before transferring and closing his career as a two-year starter at Michigan. Patterson’s bloodline as an above-average athlete is noticeable in his fluid movements. His older brother played quarterback at Duquesne, his younger brother was a three-star tight end recruit in the 2020 recruiting class, and his grandfather played two seasons for the Detroit Pistons. Patterson himself was selected in the 39th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. Unfortunately, those traits have not helped his questionable decision-making, as he tends to stack telegraphed throws and get shaky knees under pressure. Per Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner, Patterson also led the nation in time to attempt in both 2018 (2.98 seconds) and ’19 (2.82). Overall, Patterson’s poise and accuracy issues could max him out as an NFL No. 3.
