Bayern Munich have taken the next step in their commitment to engage the US Soccer community, establishing an extensive partnership that will bring the club’s famed Youth Academy to more than 55,000 kids in the United States.
The partnership, in conjunction with Global Premier Soccer, was announced Wednesday and will bring Bayern’s youth development knowledge, coaches, curriculum, uniforms, principles and culture to over 75 GPS-supported clubs across 11 states.
The program will place Bayern Youth Academy coaches in the US on a regular basis and establish “Player Identification Programs” to identify players to go on trial in Germany every summer. Wolfgang Dremmler, Head of FC Bayern Munich Youth Academy, explained:
A long-time ally of MLS, Bayern opened a US office in New York City this past summer to expand its footprint in the US and will now look to provide expert training to youth across the US. This will be the same training that Bastian Schweinsteiger, Philipp Lahm and Thomas Muller all received while growing up in the Bayern Youth Program, making this program a huge, huge win for US Soccer.
