Tuesday is another big day for South Florida soccer supporters, as David Beckham’s wishes for an MLS club in Miami-Dade County get their first formal vote from legislators.

In what is considered the next step in bringing an MLS team to Miami, county commissioners are set to vote to ask mayor Carlos Gimenez to work out contracts with interested private developers (a.k.a. Beckham) and to determine potential sites for a stadium.

Thirty sites had been considered, according to a NBC Miami November report claiming Beckham was looking into the PortMiami area. Gimenez had said that “the county would not finance a stadium, instead it would lease the land to Beckham’s group and they would be responsible for building the stadium.”

The description mentions Beckham’s interest specifically, adding this nugget from the Miami Herald:

“A Major League Soccer stadium facility located in the downtown area has the potential to further strengthen its vibrancy and to continue to position the urban core as a live, work and play center.”

Obviously, it’s a big couple days for new MLS team, projected and confirmed, and their stadium news. If you missed it: New York City FC may have just landed a $400 million neighbor to Yankee Stadium. Whether LeBron James is involved or not, life’s moving along for MLS.
