Injury replacement Kaka out of Brazil’s Copa America squad due to injury

Kaka will, in all likelihood, finish his illustrious professional soccer career without having ever represented his home nation of Brazil at a Copa America.

After missing each of the last four tournaments through a variety of injuries and roster exclusions, the 34-year-old Orlando City SC star was set to feature at this week’s 2016 Copa America Centenario after being selected as a replacement following an injury to Douglas Costa.

Fast forward five short days, and it’s Kaka who’s now injured and been replaced in the Brazil squad, by Ganso. The former AC Milan and Real Madrid star was unable to participate in training each of the last two days after picking up a muscle injury in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Panama.
