Leicester City 1-0 Norwich City: Ulloa leaves it late for leading Leicester

Leonardo Ulloa gave Leicester a 1-0 lead in the 89th minute after a picture perfect assist from Jamie Vardy.

  • Foxes improve PL lead to five points
  • Norwich stays 17th on goal differential
  • Ulloa bags late goal for win

Super sub Leonardo Ulloa’s 89th minute goal lifted Leicester City to a 1-0 win over visiting Norwich City at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The three points put the Foxes five points ahead of Arsenal and Spurs, who will both need Sunday wins to keep pace with the leaders.

Norwich remains 17th, but has now played one less game than idle No. 18 Newcastle.

Marc Albrighton’s cross was just beyond the reach of Jamie Vardy, but Ulloa was backpost to tap it home.

Leicester had the brighter overall start, but those last critical crosses and passes into the box were off target.

At the other end, Cameron Jerome was played through by Nathan Redmond. The striker had Kasper Schmeichel way off his line, but the Leicester keeper scooped the ball from a -- perhaps -- unaware Jerome.

Jerome missed a free header off a corner kick before halftime, and we skated to the break at 0-0.

The second half saw plenty of inviting crosses from Leicester, but no finish. Nathan Redmond tore into a shot in the 84th minute that tempted the goal but went wide of a flying Schmeichel and the far post.

That’s when Ulloa struck, finishing a wonderful cross from Albrighton.
