Loftus-Cheek has featured in four Premier League matches this season, and started in Chelsea’s Champions League group stage match against Maccabi Tel-Aviv. He scored his only goal for the club in an FA Cup win over Scunthorpe in January.
Now locked up at Stamford Bridge for another five years, manager Guus Hiddink said the youngster will start to see more minutes in the upcoming matches. We had him in training and made special analysis of the way he has to progress at his age and he’s working on that and it will pay off. When I arrived I thought he was 24 or 25.
That indicates he has a great future. We work specifically on a plan on what he can improve. He’s working on that, it will pay off in the upcoming games. I wont give any guarantees, but he will have his minutes.
Chelsea play at Norwich City on Tuesday and host Stoke City on Saturday before the second-leg of their Champions League tie against Paris-Saint Germain. If Hiddink chooses to rest some of his regulars for the PSG match, Loftus-Cheek could play an important role in the two league matches this week.
