Manchester City 3-0 Chelsea: Storming Citizens swallow sloppy Blues

Manchester City welcomed the defending champions to the Etihad and triumphiantly sent them packing with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Sergio Aguero tried and tried again early on, finally opening the scoring a half-hour in, and a quick pair from Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho in the final 15 minutes put things away as City picked up two wins in two while Chelsea have just a single point thus far.

The game cracked open instantly as Aguero found himself through on goal in under 30 seconds, but Asmir Begovic - in for the suspended Thibaut Courtois - stopped the shot one-on-one. Aguero had another chance on nine minutes, but as he reached for the free-kick in front of net, Begovic again stopped the shot.

The Argentine continued to be dangerous, but still could not get past Begovic. Aguero turned in the box to shake Gary Cahill and ripped a shot, but the Chelsea shot-stopper was there to save low on 15 minutes. Just a minute later Aguero had a nearly identical shot but yet again was foiled by Begovic, producing a clap from City’s striker for the incredible goalkeeping display thus far.

Finally, after 30 minutes of teasing the goal mouth, Aguero got his opener after cutting up the Chelsea defense on great possession play from his supporting cast under heavy pressure.

Things got chippy as Diego Costa went down under a an elbow from Fernandinho and Gary Cahill took a blow which bloodied his nose. When the halftime whistle sounded, Costa had to be restrained from Fernahdinho as the teams walked down the tunnel.

Jose Mourinho shocked many by taking John Terry off at halftime for Kurt Zouma instead of removing Cahill. Terry played every single Premier League minute last season for Chelsea.

Ramires had the first solid chance of the second half putting the ball in to the back of the net, but the linesman correctly called it back with Ramires just into an offside position. The teams went end to end in gripping fashion, but both teams managed to maintain its shape and organization.

Chelsea got another golden opportunity on the break after 65 minutes as Diego Costa checked the ball back to Hazard in the box while falling down, but the Belgian could only power his shot directly at Joe Hart.
