Earlier this week West Ham United gave an impressive update on the renovation work currently going as they build their new home in London’s East End.
The Hammers are taking over the stadium used to host the 2012 Olympic Games in London, and are transforming it into a 54,000 capacity soccer venue which will be ready for the 2016-17 season.

If you go by the current sizes of Premier League stadia, that would give the Hammers the third largest stadium in the league behind only Manchester United and Arsenal. However, Liverpool plan to expand Anfield to just under 60,000 and Manchester City are expanding the Etihad to hold 55,000 by the start of the 2015-16 season. That said, the Hammers will have one of the five biggest stadiums in the PL which is a huge upgrade on the 35,000 capacity of their 110-year home at Upton Park, which many fans will be sad to leave.
