Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford has enjoyed a quick rise with both his club side and the England national team.

Now, the 22-year-old could be a target for one of his country’s best teams.

According to the Mirror, the Black Cats are prepared to offer Pickford a pay rise in order to prevent big clubs, including Manchester City, from luring the youngster away from the Stadium of Light.

Pickford is under contract with Sunderland until 2020, however, his positive recent form — which includes a call up from Gareth Southgate and the Three Lions — could draw more clubs in line to attempt to poach the promising netminder.

After not appearing in the team’s first two matches of 2016, Pickford has started the last six games for Sunderland. The Black Cats are the only winless Premier League team this campaign.
