Spurs went ahead through Kane but their lead did not last for long as Barnes scored a stunner to make it 1-1. The Burnley forward collected the ball on the edge of the box and smashed in an effort to the top corner which Hugo Lloris could get nowhere near.

Soon after Spurs were on the attack as Lamela got to the byline and pulled a inviting ball back across the six yards box which missed everyone but Christian Eriksen arrived at the back post but hammered the ball over the bar.

After the interval Danny Ings was twice denied by Lloris as Burnley started the second half brightly and the French ‘keeper also kept out Ross Wallace’s free kick with a stunning sprawling save. Spurs limped to victory after failing to add to their two first half strikes, but Mauricio Pochettino’s side are starting to string together wins at the perfect time of the season.
