After Landon Donovan left the field for the final time as a United States player, he gave his final halftime interview.

Rare and irrelevant as that distinction may be, the USMNT legend gave an interview to the ESPN crew on why he felt tonight was a good send-off for him, and how he wished he could’ve finished one of his very many chances to score in his finale.

“I’ve sacrificed a lot, as you guys have, to be in a position like this,” Donovan said. “We’ve all helped the game grow to this level. We all wish that we could experience this all the time, but we’re getting there slowly... We all deserve a night like this. This is awesome.”
