Portugal have been crowned the Champions of Europe.
After beating France 1-0 in extra time, Portugal lifted the Henri Delaunay trophy at the Stade de France as the nation celebrated its first-ever major title.
Captain Cristiano Ronaldo thrust the trophy into the Parisien sky and despite leaving the final in the 25th minute due to injury, he finally had a trophy with the national team.

It wasn’t pretty but Fernando Santos’ team dug deep throughout the tournament and without Ronaldo in the final the entire team found an extra level to keep out France.
They only won once in regulation throughout EURO 2016 -- drawing all three of their group games to finish third -- but they won the game which mattered most.
