Yaya Toure apologizes for he and his agent; Pledges love to Man City

Manchester City v Dynamo Kiev - UEFA Europa League

Yaya Toure’s campaign to get back into the Manchester City squad is full speed ahead.

Toure, 33, has 72 goals and 45 assists in 269 for City but has not featured aside from a late August UCL qualifier against Steaua Bucuresti.

Despite an icy relationship with Guardiola dating back to their time at Barcelona, the manager has made it clear that an apology from agent Dimitri Seluk -- not Toure -- is what’s necessary to get the player back in his plans.

Seluk made Thursday claims that he’s attempting to apologize to Guardiola at Toure’s behest, and Yaya took it a step further one day later.

From the BBC:

“I wish to apologise - on behalf of myself and those who represent me,” said the Ivory Coast player.

The 33-year-old added that he wants “to help City succeed further”.

Toure said a lot more, thanking the fans for their support and pledging his love for what the club has accomplished during his time there.

Despite his mercurial performances -- he goes from one of the world’s best to a passenger on any given day -- it’d be nice to see his exit from City be more impactful than a poor agent’s blatherings. Here’s hoping Pep is listening.
