Free agent FB Spencer Larsen reportedly visited the Patriots earlier this week.
Leave it to Bill Belichick to pursue a player with experience at fullback, linebacker, and special teams since entering the league as a 2008 sixth-round pick. Larsen wouldn’t see much time as a lead-blocker in New England.
  • FA Running Back
Patriots signed FB Spencer Larsen, formerly of the Broncos, to a two-year contract.
Larsen is a favorite of Patriots OC Josh McDaniels going back to their time together in Denver. The Pats have only rarely utilized a fullback the past two seasons, so Larsen’s primary impact will likely come on special teams, if not a return to linebacker.
  • FA Running Back
Broncos placed FB Spencer Larsen (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Larsen sprained his MCL in the regular-season finale. The Broncos needed his roster spot to add a receiver with Eric Decker sidelined. An offensive role player and special teamer, Larsen is a free agent in 2012.
  • FA Running Back
Broncos FB Spencer Larsen was forced from Sunday’s game against the Chiefs with sprained MCL.
Larsen isn’t much of a lead blocker, but he helps in short-yardage situations and plays special teams. He’s likely out for the first round of the playoffs.
  • FA Running Back
Patriots placed FB Spencer Larsen (undisclosed) on injured reserve, ending his season.
The versatile Larsen had a good shot at a roster spot thanks to his Josh McDaniels’ connection, but you can’t make the club in the tub. The Pats also placed DB Will Allen and S Josh Barrett on IR, ending their seasons.
  • FA Running Back
Patriots released FB Spencer Larsen and waived OT Kyle Hix.
Larsen missed the entire 2012 season with an undisclosed injury, and he was due just a $750,000 base salary in 2013. Hix was waived/injured each of the last two seasons.
  • FA Running Back
Free agent FB Spencer Larsen is visiting the Bills.
Larsen is a potential replacement for free agent Corey McIntyre, though the Bills reportedly want McIntyre back. Maybe this will drive McIntyre’s price down. Larsen missed all of 2012 with an undisclosed injury.
  • FA Running Back #28
The Broncos intend to use more two-back sets this season, with Spencer Larsen as the lead blocker for Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter.
This is a part of Denver’s new power-blocking scheme, which promotes more of a smash-mouth mentality. Coach Josh McDaniels says the spread offense will still be used often. Moreno will be the lead back no matter the formation.
  • FA Running Back
    Bucs released FB Spencer Larsen.
Larsen is no longer needed with Erik Lorig (calf) expected to return this week. The Bucs have promoted CB Deveron Carr from the practice squad to replace him on the active roster.
  • FA Running Back
    Bucs re-signed FB Spencer Larsen.
A roster spot opened back up when TE Danny Noble was waived on Tuesday. Larsen, who was just released two weeks ago by the Bucs, will resume his role as a blocker and special teamer.
