Rams selected South Carolina State TE Temarrick Hemingway with the No. 177 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft.
Hemingway (6'5/244) was South Carolina State’s second leading receiver as a senior, posting a 38-418-1 line en route to first-team All-MEAC honors. He showed plus athleticism in Indy, running 4.71 with a 9-foot-7 broad jump and impressive 6.88 three-cone time. With long arms (34"), big hands (10"), and NFL-level movement skills, Hemingway was one of Josh Norris’ favorite pre-draft sleepers. Hemingway is still far from ready to play with almost no honed blocking ability or notion of NFL route concepts. He’s a multi-year project. After adding Tyler Higbee in the fourth, the Rams are showing a commitment to upgrading the tight end position.
