Chargers signed West Virginia CB Terrell Chestnut.
A sleeper prospect whose shine was copped by circumstance (overshadowed by sharing a defensive backfield with Karl Joseph, Daryl Worley and KJ Dillon), misfortune (two torn labrums) and speed (4.61), Chestnut (5'11/198) has the talent to make San Diego’s roster. He surrendered only 41.8 percent completions and an NFL passer rating of 46.9 last year, per PFF, and had a much better coverage grade than Worley, taken in Rd. 3. Chestnut was famous in Morgantown for frequent visits to the WVU Children’s Hospital and area schools and for buying food for homeless people. WVU coach Dana Holgorsen called him “the best coach on the field” for star WR Shelton Gibson and “a good guy, a good teammate” who “tries to do the right thing all the time.”
