The Brewers have informed Jay Jackson and Tuffy Gosewisch that they will not make the Opening Day roster.
They haven’t officially been re-assigned to minor league camp yet, but the duo will not head north with the club. Of the two, Jackson had a better shot to make the team as a non-roster invitee, but he hasn’t pitched well this spring.

Brewers signed C Tuffy Gosewisch to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Gosewisch, 35, is a career .190/.228/.271 hitter over parts of five seasons in the majors. He’s merely a depth addition.

Blue Jays acquired C Tuffy Gosewisch from the Phillies for cash considerations.
It’s an organizational depth move with all the injuries to catchers in the Jays’ farm system. Gosewisch, 28, is a .232/.301/.358 career hitter in the minor leagues.

Diamondbacks signed C Tuffy Gosewisch to a minor league contract.
He’ll receive a spring training invite but has very little shot of cracking the Opening Day roster. Gosewisch batted just .216/.278/.345 at the Triple-A level this season.

Diamondbacks optioned C Tuffy Gosewisch to Triple-A Reno.
Gosewisch hit .185/.179/.185 over eight games while providing catcher depth with Miguel Montero out. Now that Montero’s back, he’s no longer needed. He should return as the third catcher next month, though.

Diamondbacks recalled C Tuffy Gosewisch from Triple-A Reno.
Gosewisch will serve as emergency catching depth for the D’Backs over the final month of the regular season.
  • MLB Catcher #4
Tuffy Gosewisch has been sidelined the last couple days with a calf injury.
“It’s not playable right now, but I think it’ll just be a couple of days until I’m back on the field,” Gosewisch said Saturday. “I made a lot of progress (Friday). (Friday) felt OK, (Saturday) felt really good. I think I should be running (Sunday) and hopefully doing baseball stuff soon after that.” Gosewisch is competing for the backup catcher job this spring.

Welington Castillo is not in the Diamondbacks’ lineup Sunday.
He’s just getting a breather. Tuffy Gosewisch is catching.
  • MLB Catcher #4
Tuffy Gosewisch homered and tripled Thursday against the Mets.
Gosewisch had three homers and no triples in 341 career at-bats entering this one. He’s been playing quite a bit this last week, since Welington Castillo is struggling and Chris Herrmann remains on the disabled list. Herrmann, though, could be back in 7-10 days.
  • MLB Catcher #4
Tuffy Gosewisch went 2-for-4 and clobbered his third home run of the season in a losing effort against the Red Sox on Friday.
The light-hitting backup catcher tagged David Price with the solo shot in the fifth inning, cutting the D’Backs deficit to 8-3 at the time. This coming after he homered and tripled against the Mets on Thursday. Even with his two-hit attack, he’s still hitting just .208/.235/.438 with three homers and seven RBI on the season.
