Cubs transferred LHP Xavier Cedeno from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
The move clears a spot for the newly-acquired David Phelps on the 40-man roster. Cedeno has already been out for over two months with a left wrist injury, so this shouldn’t impact the timeline for his return.

Xavier Cedeno (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.
Cedeno has missed the last few weeks of action with a left wrist injury. He shouldn’t need too many rehab appearances before being activated.

Cubs placed LHP Xavier Cedeno on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation.
Cedeno was just activated from the 10-day IL on May 11 to replace Allen Webster. He’s yet to give up a run in his lefty-specialist role, he’s reaggravated the wrist injury that kept him out for the first month-plus of 2019. We should know more on his status going forward in the coming days. Rowan Wick has been called up to replace Cedeno.

Cubs activated LHP Xavier Cedeno from the 10-day injured list.
He will take Allen Webster’s (radial nerve) spot on the roster. Cedeno will be making his Cubs debut when he gets into a game. He missed all of spring training and the first month-plus of the regular season with a wrist injury. He pitched very well for the White Sox and Brewers last year, notching a 2.43 ERA with more than a strikeout per inning in 48 relief appearances. He will serve in middle relief for the Cubs moving forward.

Xavier Cedeno (wrist) will make a rehab appearance for Double-A Tennessee on Thursday.
Cedeno missed all of spring training because of surgery on his left wrist, but he’s making progress and now will get a chance to face some minor league hitters. He should be back in the bullpen for the Cubs near the beginning of May; maybe sooner if he continues making quick progress.

Xavier Cedeno (wrist) will make an appearance in an extended spring training game Friday.
Cedeno missed all of spring training with a left wrist injury, so he’ll need a good number of rehab appearances before being activated. It seems unlikely that he’ll return before the end of April.

Cubs president Theo Epstein noted Monday that Tony Barnette (shoulder) and Xavier Cedeno (wrist) are both nearing minor league rehab assignments.
Which means they could both be options for the Cubs’ battered bullpen around the middle of April -- so sometime next week. Barnette opened the 2019 regular season on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder soreness, while Cedeno has been working through a left wrist issue.

Xavier Cedeno (wrist) is not expected to be ready for the start of the season.
Cedeno has been battling a left wrist injury for the last week and is expected to be sidelined for another 7-10 days. He seems likely to be ready sometime in April.

Xavier Cedeno is dealing with a left wrist injury.
Cedeno is able to play catch, but he’s yet to appear in a Cactus League game and it’s unclear when he’ll be able to do so. It’s not ideal as he tries to win a spot in the Cubs’ bullpen.

Cubs signed LHP Xavier Cedeno to a one-year, $900,000 contract.
It’s a major league contract but isn’t guaranteed, so Cedeno will have to pitch well to earn a job. The Cubbies were in the market for some more left-handed relief depth and they’ve managed to add some cheaply. Cedeno was non-tendered after posting a 2.43 ERA and 34/16 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings for the White Sox and Brewers last season.
