McCreery

McCreery was up with the Angels for a day last month but didn’t pitch. He’s posted a 3.63 ERA over 35 appearances in the minors this season.

McCreery cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and will remain in the organization as left-handed relief depth.

McCreery was only up in the majors for one game and did not make an appearance. The 26-year-old left-hander holds a 3.79 ERA and 43/25 K/BB ratio in 40 1/3 innings this season between Double-A and Triple-A.

McCreery had posted a 4.04 ERA and 39/23 K/BB ratio in 35 2/3 innings this season between the Dodgers’ Double-A and Triple-A affiliates. The 26-year-old southpaw will be organizational depth for the Halos.

McCreery was designated for assignment by Atlanta earlier this week. He spent the majority of the 2018 season in the upper minors, posting a 3.62 ERA and 71/37 K/BB ratio in 54 2/3 innings between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett. The big lefty (he’s listed as 6-foot-9, 250 pounds) will turn 26 years old on December 31.

They needed to clear space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Josh Donaldson. McCreery has made just one appearance in the majors, allowing two runs over an inning of work. He has major control issues but is a big lefty who can miss some bats, so there could be some interest in him via waivers.

McCreery, a second-round pick in 2014 out of Azusa Pacific University, owns a 3.55 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 38 professional innings -- all in rookie ball. The big left-hander is a raw piece of clay for Atlanta.

The 25-year-old southpaw made just one appearance out of the Braves’ bullpen, allowing two runs on four hits in his lone inning of work. He’ll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until he’s needed again at the big league level.

McCreery was just recently promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett and will now get his first taste of the majors. The 25-year-old former 22nd-round pick holds a 3.44 career ERA and 11.6 career K/9 in the minor leagues.
