Florida State sophomore DB Akeem Dent (foot) will miss spring practice.
Dent (6'0/170) suffered the injury during an offseason workout but should be ready to play when the season rolls around. The highly touted four-star prospect out of West Palm Beach, FL was rated as the seventh best cornerback and 50th best recruit overall in the 2019 class. Dent recorded 35 tackles and seven PBU last season which ranked first among all ACC true freshmen. He floated around the defensive backfield last season, but is expected to stick at corner in 2020 when healthy.

Florida State received a verbal commitment from four-star 2019 CB Akeem Dent.
“Dent really gets downhill in a hurry, flashing big-time closing speed and acceleration, but also does a nice job of playing under control,” Scout.com noted in their breakdown of the 6-foot, 170-pound stalwart out of Wellington, Florida. The outlet additionally passes along that Dent has shown an ability to excel at both corner and safety during his high school career. He ranks as Scout’s No. 9 overall prospect for the 2019 cycle and stands as their No. 1 corner in the class.

Florida State five-star 2019 verbal CB commit Akeem Dent is kicking around possible visits to USC, Michigan and Alabama.
Dent (6'0/170) remains committed to the Seminoles, but FSU HC Willie Taggart and staff are going to have to keep at it with the talented corner. USC looks like it’s all but assured of a trip, here, as Dent visited them in the spring and came away intrigued. He’s interested in Michigan due to their track record of success in building up strong secondaries. As for the Crimson Tide, it’s not outside the realm of possibility that the cornerback checks in on them during their neutral site opening clash with Louisville on Saturday. Hailing from Palm Beach, it’s not too much of a logistical hurdle. On the 247Sports composite board, Dent checks in at No. 32 overall in the 2019 class. He’s a lengthy, rangy athlete, though still somewhat raw on the whole.

In the latest release of the Rivals250, FSU four-star 2019 verbal CB commit Akeem Dent was upgraded to five-star status.
Rob Cassidy, Rivals Florida analyst, said he “is an elite athlete and showed it on the camp circuit this year. Obviously, his natural position is defensive back and that’s where he is dominant but he spent some time reminding everyone what level of athlete he is by working at wide receiver at some stops this offseason. Dent’s length and raw athletic ability make him special.” The Wellington, Florida native ranks as the 20th-best player overall in the 2019 class and should push for immediate playing time at Florida State.

Five-star DB Akeem Dent announced Saturday that he will be enrolling early at Florida State.
Dent (5'11/180), considered to be one of the top defensive backs in the Class of 2019, is ranked 33rd nationally in the class per 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. The five-star defensive back has been verbally committed to FSU for quite some time now, but challengers such as Alabama, Clemson, Florida and Miami lurked in the background. Dent’s decision to enroll at Florida State this month officially puts any fears of a recruiting flip to rest. And given how the early signing period went for HC Willie Taggart, this is a huge win for the Florida State program.
